(Photo: me on back of jetski - yes it could be anyone, I promise it's me 🙂 )
Pushing passed the fear is something I’ve tried to do most of my adult life...surprisingly for many through adrenaline sport. I love trying new things and usually they freak me out but I tend to do them anyway. Some examples include - skydive, white water rafting, speeding around Silverstone circuit at 110-120mph in a Lotus Exige, bungee jumping, parasailing...
One thing that I haven’t quite got passed is being in deep water. Now this is a huge pain in the arse because I really would love to do a shark cage dive, only a surface one mind, but it still means getting in deep water.
What have I tried scuba (fail), tried surfing lessons (got waist deep and managed to stand up once so I called it a day!!) and I plain old just walked out into the waves (got smashed by a couple in Gold Coast and my bikini got pulled off!! awkward).
I’ve been hypnotised about it once, which I think helped me to push myself to try a lot of the above but with little success.
Over the last few weeks I’ve been doing Psych-K balances on myself and have done several around being in deep water, being safe, comfortable and confident.
What’s happened since...I’ve been out on a jetski and loved it (still a tad nervous, but I’ve never been able to do it before) and when I think and say out loud that I feel uncomfortable with the waves or deep water I actually feel like I’m talking a load of crap - how frikkin amazing!
So it’s only uphill from here...I will do a shark cage dive - it is on my life list!! Bring it on!!
Be your best!
Bhav xx
