Feel Alive with a Massage

Massage is an alternative and natural therapy that has been around since approximately 3,000 BC!

As I am sure most of you will know, massage provides relaxation but did you know that it can temporarily reduce blood pressure, heart rate and improve your sleep?Medical research has shown that the benefits of massage also include pain relief, reduced anxiety and depression which affect us all at one time or another in our lives.

It is available for all different kinds of things whether that be for relaxation or remedial purposes, deep tissue or lymph drainage.

During a massage your body releases chemicals called endorphins which are the same chemicals released during exercise, sex, laughter and eating chocolate (mmm chocolate!) Alongside this, serotonin is also released. This is a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, hunger and sleep. Both of these combined trigger a positive feeling in the body and promote a sense of well-being and contentment. Not only that, they also reduce the perception of pain.

Hunched over a computer, sitting at a desk all day, stuck in traffic, waiting in line at the supermarket – such boring activities can create repetitive muscle tension (known as “holding”) in the body. And when muscles are tense, it can have a nasty effect on not only our bodies but also our minds!

With all of that in mind you can see why massage is a good way of practicing self-care. It forces us for 30-60 minutes to take time out of our busy lives, power down our brain, take some deep breaths and just be still which is something a lot of us feel lazy and/or guilty about ordinarily.

We shouldn’t feel guilty for wanting to take better care of ourselves. Your family, friends and most of all you, deserve the best you there can be!

What you are getting from massage is an access all areas pass to a better well-being and clarity of mind. Ergo, a better YOU!

Try something different to get a new result in 2016. Make self-care one of your resolutions and get in touch!

Be your best!
