Are you a true leader?

Are you a True Leader?

Through my almost 20 years of working in the people development space - learning and researching different approaches to leadership, training leadership, coaching and mentoring leaders - not to mention being in leadership roles within my career and now through my business - I feel like I know a thing or two about what amazing leadership looks and FEELS like.

Through all of this, I developed the True Leader test (it's more of a quiz really) to help you and others like you to quickly see if you hold the subconscious programming of a True Leader.

Now, a little disclaimer, this test is only a microcosm of the full spectrum of programs, or beliefs as they are called in my world, that make up a True Leader. The wonderful thing about this test is that it goes beyond style, type, preferences, and even "I know how to do that". This test looks at where your belief systems are.

The way this test is delivered, through SurveyMonkey, means that we do not have the most accurate way of finding out if any of the programs exist in your subconscious. The way we do that is through one-to-one work, where we use your mind-body technology to 'test' if the beliefs exist.

Okay, so what? Why do I need to believe these things?

The problems that I've observed through my years of experience is that we train the knowledge, skills and attributes of leadership, we help people understand what their styles are and how to use their styles to be an effective leader, but we don't look at whether or not we believe we should act in these wonderful ways or even have stress associated with these amazing leadership behaviours.

Again, so what?

Well when we don't believe, when our subconscious is not in alignment with the external behaviours we want to demonstrate, these new behaviours become more difficult to embody.

Let me ask you...

How many managers do you know that have been on a leadership course and come back all enthusiastic, you feel excited because things might get better, but in a week or two it's all too hard for them, there's not enough time, or maybe they simply think it's all stupid and a whole lot of rubbish!

I know I've seen all of these outcomes in various managers.

Now let me ask you something else...

Now many managers/leaders do you know have you seen that do not walk their talk?

[Insert pause for you to lose count of how many of these managers you've seen or experienced...]

Now I've definitely seen many of these!

So here's the connection

When you have the subconscious programs that align to the behaviours that you WANT to demonstrate, those behaviours become easier to demonstrate - you are in flow.

(I capitalised WANT, because if you don't want to demonstrate these great behaviours, you likely don't have these programs, and you also probably don't want to. If you don't want to demonstrate great leadership behaviours, you never will. Change requires will to be greater and bigger to achieve greater and bigger).

That's enough for now

I could, as you might be able to tell, talk about this for a very long time, and next month I'll share with you what happens when you have stress attached to various leadership behaviours, touching on addiction to behaviours.
