What have you got to lose?

In life we may experience a number of types of loss.Loss of the life of loved ones
Loss of love/relationships

Loss of health or physical/mental capability

Or something else...

I myself have experienced the loss of life of loved ones, my younger brother being the most significant. Felt loss of love and relationships both romantic and friendship, and had many limitations placed on me due to health.

Whatever the type you've experienced, it's likely to have had or is having an emotional impact. It's important to be aware of these emotions, experience them and most importantly to release them so that you can move on and continue on your own journey.

On my own journey I've learned some useful techniques, that with regular practice assist in helping to notice, accept, release and move pass restricting emotions. Here's one example for simply noticing and observing:

  • Sit comfortable, eyes open, take a few deep breaths and then close your eyes.
  • Allow your breathing to return to normal, and take a couple of moments to observe the breath...the temperature go from cold to warm in your nose and the rise a fall in your body as you inhale and exhale.
  • Take your awareness to the top of your head, and start to scan down internally simply noticing how the body feels physically and emotionally. As you notice, acknowledge, and move on to continue your scan all the way down to the bottom of your feet.
  • Notice, acknowledge and continue scanning.
  • Once you've got to your feet, take your awareness back to your breath.
  • Observe the breath for a few moments, before taking your awareness to the physical senses, the noise around you and then open the eyes.
